The heartfelt poetry it's worth lasting the distance, plus the good directing and acting, the accurate period reconstruction, creating the right mood against those dark times in Chilean history....Neruda is one of my favourite poet, one that has helped me fight many moments of depression on many occasions...this is certainly a must see movie...9/10.

This could have merely been a great biopic about resistance in the face of oppression, and it is, but it transcends the biopic genre with a visual poetry that fits its subject perfectly. Complex, thought-provoking and beautifully executed by the director and the cast, it's a must-see if you don't mind braving subtitles. If you do, well your loss. 4/5
