Good movies like this are never featured, am I right?

3/5 Good film with a nice message and a few touching scenes but nothing memorable which given the subject matter is an epic fail. Superficial in character development with serious pacing issues. The casting and acting are good - the weakness is in the writing. This story could have been great - it's just not.

I really liked this movie. It had the right ingredients for a drama, IMHO. It was definitely worth the time investment to watch it, at least for me.

Why can't people just watch a movie just for the sheer entertainment instead of going so deep into analysing it? This was a beautiful family movie with a strong message. Family first!

I thought it was ok about the same as Literati, it could have been better and it would have if they, well you know what I mean after watching it, sad but should have gone all the way. In real life shit happens and nothing is like how it is in the movies. If they had gone all the way, it would have been a tear jerker and would have made the movie go from a 5.5 out of 10 to a solid 8 at least, but worth a one time watch for sure.

It's nice to see Gerry in something where he's not shooting people or blowing up buildings. I've been waiting a long time to see him get back to drama. This is a little overacted at times, and the writing is a little stiff, but, heck, I cried, so it managed to pull me in and hold me for some bits. My biggest complaint is that Gretchen Mol has nothing better to do at 1 PM than watch Dr. Oz. The guy's a hack, whose misinformation does more harm than good, and the Elise character seemed smarter than someone who could be taken in by his charlatanism. But other than that, good one-time watch.

With Gerard Butler as the lead I have to admit that I was expecting much much more. This would make a great family channel flick and not much more.

Massively overplayed by Gerard Butler but totally underplayed by everybody else...the plot is a mix of powerhouse macho delusions and a tear jerking family tragedy, not very balanced in intensity it struggles to convey a credible ending out of the stereotyped script...escaping from that insane working environment into a real family life salvation, give me a break.....4/10.

I loved the cast - yes it was contrived - but I could not stop crying! A one time watch with many tissues. Suggest Nick Gage 'The Family Man' if you liked this (because that one was awesome).
