If you are spiritual, but not religious, see this movie. If you are religious, see this movie. If you have suffered a great tragedy or loss, and you are in pain, see this movie. If you have tried to make sense of spirituality and religion but could not, see this movie. It is full of wisdom and metaphor and not your standard religious dogma. It's the best spiritual movie I have yet to see.

This is beyond bad. It leaps head first into heresy and in no way represents biblical Christianity, but Reconciling Universalism which says that, in the end, every person is saved. (Whether they want to be or not!) It says that there is no hell. This film encourages building your belief about God around your emotions and what you feel, rather than what the God Himself says in His word. This film is a poisonous apple. Outwardly it's appealing with good acting and cinematography and has a kernel of truth. Inwardly it's a ravenous wolf and deadly to those who embrace it. Poison, even when mixed with truth, is still deadly. To say, ''it's just a movie'' is dangerous. Sadly, many people, even professing Christians, are embracing this movie in all its deception. It breaks my heart. PM me if you want to talk about it.

Many reviewers are stuck within the confines of religion. The message and the journey this story take us on are beautiful. What matters is the lessons learned and the healing the main character receive. Messengers can come in all forms just as there are all forms of people. If you get lost in the messenger you will never fully benefit from the message you would otherwise receive. I enjoyed the movie and took away a profound sense of peace and satifaction from the lessons I witnessed. Yes its just a movie but as I said messengers can come in all forms when you are open to them.

My mother gave me the shack years ago and i never got a round to reading it, then i went to see ii with her this weekend. We are not christian, we are unitarian universalists and yet many of UU's (for short) believe this is a book that aligns with their personal faiths. So what's interesting is that it's one message that can be interpreted many different ways depending on what you believe. Some will see this as distinctly christian and a representation of what christ's message is. Other will see this as blasphemy because it is not scripture - that's very important, it's NOT scripture. This is a single person's take on faith, that's it. Other people will see this as distinctly NOT christian. This is because the core values are the same, just interpreted in different ways. So you can look at this story as a religious message, which it certainly can be and should be if it helps you through something in life. Or you can look at this as cinematic, which is how i took it because i am not religious and have no internal dilemmas right now. As a movie, i think this was done quite well. Each 'god' character has a different essence and message, which makes them relatable to different people. The garden scenes are particularly beautiful. I loved the scene with wisdom because it makes some great points about judging other people. I also had no idea what this story was about so the plot in general was startling and heartbreaking for me. I think this is a great movie, if you're religious or not. It shouldn't make anyone angry or roll their eyes. It should make you think - think about yourself, think about others, think about your crimes and how you can compare them to others, how your sorrows can be compared to another person's sorrows. It should make you think about life, the earth, human existence. That is the purpose, as he learns something, you do too. What you learn will be different from what anyone else watching it learns because only you can know yourself and your struggles.

I read the so far few reviews for " THE SHACK ". I have to say I truly liked it. Sure it's not The Bible as it was written. I haven't seen any movie Past or Present that was. But this movie lets you see inside this man's soul and what makes him who he is and his relationship and walk with Christ. I loved how they casted God as the woman who gave him comfort earlier in his life. Sorry but I loved it.

I remember reading the book and how it changed my perspective on a few things. I'm glad that such a great job was done with this movie. The Author should be proud of this. It was worth seeing.

This is an incredible film, especially if you are having a hard time in life right now... The lessons on forgiveness and repentance are eternal... 9/10

If the story helps or comforts you that's great. New age packaged pablum. This is another soft twist on the soggy brain of humanity in a venial attempt to appeal to a trampled sense of self worth. Playing cavalier with deep felt emotions is tawdry Hollywood's hallmark. This tasteless sleaze gorges on raw emotions at your expense, packaged nicely to fill seats in the theaters.

Fantastic meaningful movie"And i do not believe in god at all". One does not have to believe in GOD to find a good message of forgiveness.

Not a terrible or wonderful film, but it is good. I'm not sure why some religious people are complaining, because this is one of the best faith-based movies I have seen so far. It certainly made me feel more positive after watching it and I'm not even a believer. I really do feel that the 'unitarian/universalist' approach is what will draw more people in to the Christian faith. Fundamentalism drives even some fervent believers away. The movie is entrenched in core Christian beliefs but expounds its messages in a compassionate way. I'll still be agnostic, but this movie is pretty good. 3.5 stars

What a disgusting message this movie has. Everyone involved in making this should be very ashamed of themselves.

This is an awesome film! It shows that we experience only two fundamental emotions: fear and love. And that love is able to conquer this fear.

have read the book twice and saw this in theater, is a good film, mostly like the book. Worth a watch I thought they did a good job on it.

This is a great movie and I am not a religious person at all. It was nice to see GOD portrayed as a black woman, because the black woman is GOD. I do blame the oldest daughter for her getting kidnapped, because if she would have stopped screaming and asking for help and helped her brother herself, the father would have to jump in the water to save the son. I also don't like how they made the after life look like it was just another earth full of humans, when there are many different realms and dimensions for the soul to explore. What I like the most about the movie is the messages in it. I will give it 6,267 out of 7,323.

Religious doctrine combined with a bit of metaphysical combined with a drama. Dialogue never really discusses hard questions, but feeds more doctrine to fit it`s purpose. A disappointing film at best.

The movie copy is blurry in a lot of places but still watchable. Lot of negative comments, not sure what they expected but watch it for the messages and lessons it works to reveal. The movie tries to take a light hearted approach to some christian/religious beliefs while helping deal with a loss, anger and forgiveness. I enjoyed it and would love to watch a clear copy when it comes out. Focus on the message of love and you'll really enjoy it as well. 9/10

Good googly moogly, was this a stinker. fuck the whole debate over the religious aspects, just look at it as a MOVIE. the acting is BAD, the casting is BAD, the editing is BAD, the screenplay is BAD, and the story is so fucking out there and all over the place that I'm surprised the editors even managed to cobble together a weak sense of continuity, somehow. ON TOP OF THAT, the heavy-handed ridiculous religious nature of it just makes this the worst possible movie you could ever spend time or money to see. I can guarantee you, THE ONLY people that will like this movie are religious people who agree with 'the message' because it vaguely validates their own beliefs. 0.5/5 it gets a half-star for existing as a film that can be watched. every single other aspect is the worst shit to ever be committed to public record. the. fucking. worst.
