Kroc did what the brothers were not able to do, i would give him credit for making mcd what it is today. Great movie though.

People loathe Kroc, but he does have one pretty fair point. The moral edge the story rests on is that Kroc was only breaking even after working legitimately very hard towards expanding franchises, while the McBros sat in their store while overruling every idea Kroc had to turn a profit, because of his weakly positioning work contract. Kroc requested to re-negotiate his contract, so he would at least be making a profit, at that point the McBros could have done the morally just thing and do as he requested but they wouldn't budge an inch. Then you see Kroc, in the end, doing something particularly unfair to the McBros, but neither party is completely innocent. Oh and Kroc really seemed to love the wife in the end, he didn't just steal her for bad reasons. Decent morality movie.

Inspiring but sad documentary about Capitalism. It also confirms that nobody made people eat at McDonald's every day and get sick from it.

Entertaining. I'm not understanding those who say he was an a**. The brothers didn't do the legwork to turn their idea into a multi billion dollar empire, Kroc did. Ideas are a dime a dozen. Making the idea pay out is the hard part. I personally favor socialism, but in the current system, he more than compensated the brothers for what he took from them.

Very solid movie.Michael Keaton hit's another home run and my only complaint might be that Laura Dern didn't have more time on screen. If the facts are true about what he did to the Brothers..oh well because without Ray we wouldn't have McDonald's on every corner and that Delicious Dollar Menu...LOL.

I love Mcdonald's always have always will.....so a smart man capitalized....what I just watched was a business man at work...its what they do...I don't cry for the small minded....some people root for the underdogs...but really the underdogs don't step up and fight and that's what happens. They didn't get far because they were so closed minded and naive. Never deal on a handshake...that's called stupidity. Strong men succeed...while the rest flounder and cry about not getting anywhere as they do nothing to alter their circumstance. This is coming from an underdog mind you. I spent years crying about how hard I worked and I'm still poor but its myself who put me this way I made some stupid decisions in my life. See the movie for what it is...just a story of someones life and what he did...like him hate him...won't change a thing.... and psh no way I'm boycotting my french fries...or my McNuggets lol...

One of Keaton's best performances, excellent job of playing an almost likable douchebag. Good Movie, though for the record, the Mcdonald's brothers did not invent the speedee system, they stole it from White Castle.

An interesting, if not exactly ground-breaking, movie about a businessman who turned a profit off someone else's business. Keaton turns in another good performance in a lackluster script that aim at inspiration but lands a bit flat. From a grammatical point of view, it never fails to amuse me to see the word "restaurant" associated with McDonalds. A trashy eatery where you can get cheap sustenance (although it's not really cheap for the offer), sure. But a restaurant? Heh. 3/5

Excellent movie - I didn't want it to end. So many interesting facts we never knew about the big "M". Fine acting all around, but then when does Michael Keaton ever disappoint!? 5/5 (yup!)

What a great movie! Kroc's bad scruples aside, there's no arguing with the fact that the biggest key to success is PERSISTENCE! It probably went unnoticed by some that up until he was 52 years old, he had a life of enduring one "No" after another, with the reputation of "what do you got going now?". Persistence is definitely what got me where I am, which is why I guess I admire this movie so much. My friends make comments like "you're lucky" or "you have a knack". Nothing could me further from the truth. I just didn't quit! Right on Mr. Kroc!

No scruples but with a vision, grabbing a gigantic opportunity and in many ways changing history...for the worst.Fast food from McDonald's outlets have been feeding daily 1% of the world population, millions of people on the road to obesity and coronary diseases....looking at the origins of all this might look amazing, part of the American enterprising nature, ignoring the consequences of course is criminal...so acknowledging a film as very informative and well presented won't be cleaning any slates...good to see Keaton in top form though...7/10.

I'm not going to get into the moral quandary of right and wrong in the battle for the soul of McDonald's. Was Ray Kroc a greedy opportunist? Maybe. What successful business owner isn't. And if you listen to Ray's biographer, there's a lot of Hollywood spin in the story. Neither here nor there. That's not the point of The Founder. What really The Founder is is Michael Keaton's antithesis to Birdman. Both deal with very similar themes -- the idea of a man past his prime, trying to divine meaning in a life spent toiling without much success. And like in Birdman, Keaton's Kroc sees his final opportunity to possible make something of himself, to matter in the world. There, though, is where The Founder diverges. Because unlike Birdman, and as history and untold mouths tell, Kroc succeeded. So as a study of comparison and contrasts to Birdman, I found The Founder fascinating in that aspect. Both films even share what I would view as a key soliloquy that sums up the theme and point of the film. In Birdman, it was Keaton's daughter speech about finding relevance in a world that doesn't let people older than 40 find it very easily, if at all. In The Founder: It's Keaton this time to surmises the film's point -- that it's not about age, but about drive and intent: "Now, I know what you're thinking. How the heck does a 52-year-old, over-the-hill milkshake machine salesman build a fast food empire with 1,600 restaurants, in 50 states, five foreign countries with an annual revenue of in the neighborhood of $700 million. One word: Persistence." Beyond this exercise, The Founder is not a film that would demand repeated viewing like Birdman. Sure, Keaton's performance is strong, but like in Birdman, he's really not stretching himself much. And his costars all give their A-game, especially Nick Offerman. But there's not much else going on here. The story is straight forward and takes you there without much surprise. In a sense, it's kind of boring. John Lee Hancock is less showy and artsy with The Founder than he has been on past films. In a way, for such a talented director, it's almost as if he phoned it in. Perhaps he wanted to let his cast's performance be the reason to devour the film, but as I said, the performances were strong, but nothing extraordinary. And that's too bad. Because if you're going to wrinkle facts to further plot, at least make it compelling.

FUN FACT.. if you order a double cheese burger meal with big mac sauce and lettuce, you will end up with a burger that is and tastes exactly the same as a big mac, the only difference is, there's no bread in the middle and it's £2 cheaper :P.. #Lifehacks #exMcDonaldsEmployee #You'reWelcome
